McCann Associates Joins American Board for Certification of Teacher Excellence (ABCTE) to Recruit 900 Teachers across the U.S. in January

January 11, 2010

Prediction that nearly half of America’s teachers will retire during the next decade leads McCann to join forces with ABCTE to recruit nearly 900 this month.

Ewing, NJ, January 11, 2010 –

The National Commission on Teaching and America’s Future predicts that nearly half the nation’s teachers are currently age 50 or older, and set to retire in the next decade. As they get ready to do so, schools across the country are preparing for a significant loss where teachers once held positions.

McCann Associates, the leading provider of online assessment tools, has teamed up with the American Board for Certification of Teacher Excellence. McCann will provide prospective teachers looking to fill these positions with the opportunity to improve their writing skills, and increase their scores on the Professional Teaching Knowledge (PTK), and English Language Arts (ELA) Examinations.

“We recognize the extraordinary need for talented teachers in classrooms across the U.S., and we are incredibly excited to help fill this shortage through our commitment to helping prospective teachers become as qualified and ready as possible to enter our children’s classrooms,” says Paul Edelblut, Vice President of McCann Associates.

As ABCTE looks to meet an unprecedented goal of recruiting nearly 900 teachers in January, McCann is stepping up to help them meet the demand with highly qualified professionals ready and able to take these teaching positions. McCann has a long history of designing and delivering high-stakes and diagnostic professional assessments for public and private organizations since 1959.

“A teacher’s ability to communicate well has been shown to have one of the greatest impacts on student achievement. Through our partnership with McCann, ABCTE is able to assess and improve our candidate’s writing, helping to ensure that more students learn from teachers who have mastered this critical skill.” Dave Saba, ABCTE CEO.
