McCann Associates and etrainlearn Team Up to Reduce Sexual Harassment in the Workplace

July 31, 2009

Online Training and Certification Program designed to educate and inform employees on the latest sexual harassment laws, reducing time and costs spent on corporate training.

Ewing, NJ, July 31, 2009 –
McCann Associates, the leading provider of online assessment tools, and etrainlearn, provider of online training and certification for companies and their employees, are pleased to announce a new partnership that will provide companies with Web-based and live training in sexual harassment prevention.

According to a recent national report, sexual harassment in the workplace has been linked to decreased job satisfaction, and can lead to a loss of staff and expertise because of resignations to avoid harassment, or because of resignations or firings of alleged harassers. Every year, hundreds of millions of dollars are lost in productivity because of effects such as employee absenteeism to avoid harassment, and increased team conflict in environments where harassment is occurring. The increased team conflict also leads to problems with team cohesion and less success in meeting financial goals. The knowledge that harassment is permitted can undermine ethical standards, and discipline in the organization.

The report continues, “…staff lose respect for, and trust in, their seniors who indulge in, or turn a blind eye to, sexual harassment.” If the problem is ignored, a company’s image can suffer amongst clients, employees, potential customers, and the general public. Health care costs can increase because of the health consequences of harassment, not to mention the legal costs if a victim files a lawsuit after complaints are ignored or mishandled.”

According to Pam Kirby, Vice President of McCann Associates, “We are pleased to be able to provide the education and tools necessary to keep employees and employers up to date on the latest statistics and laws regarding sexual harassment and to hopefully get out ahead of potential issues. Through our partnership with etrainlearn, organizations can reduce precious dollars in training coordination and in potential lawsuits resulting from the lack of awareness and education about sexual harassment in the workplace.

Specific training and certification programs in sexual harassment prevention are available for the following:

Supervisors and Managers: This course prepares the Manager and Supervisor to define and recognize sexual harassment situations, and to know the legal and procedural actions that must be taken. It also addresses the legal liability that managers and supervisors have by virtue of their positions.

General Employees: This Web-based training course helps raise the awareness of general employees as to the definition of sexual harassment, helps them understand how to follow harassment policies, and informs the employee on what actions he or she should take should such behavior be suspected.

School District Principals and Managers: This Web-based training course is specifically designed to prepare your principals and manager to properly, and legally handle sexual harassment complaints. It will heighten sensitivity to potential claims and provide a practical step-by-step course of action should such complaints be registered.
