Entry-Level Examinations

Hire the Best Candidates for the Job

McCann Associates' entry-level tests help police, fire and emergency medical agencies select the most qualified applicants by ensuring that candidates possess the basic skills necessary to successfully perform the job. Each test has been empirically statistically validated (ESV) using a criterion-related validation study employing concurrent methodologies. Minority candidates will not be disadvantaged because of cultural, ethnic or gender bias in test questions, as all questions are thoroughly reviewed for bias in terminology before being included on the test. In addition, the tests are at an appropriate reading level for the intended candidate population, and for the job tasks which successful candidates will be required to perform upon being hired and trained.

Our tests for Police Officer, Firefighter, Fire Medic and Emergency Medical Practitioner (EMP) have a reputation of superior quality and high candidate acceptance. Extensive normative data is continually maintained and validity data is analyzed to ensure that the psychometric properties of the tests remain consistent.

Entry-level examinations include:
  • Candidate study guides available for downloading from our website
  • Test booklets, answer sheets, ID system and monitor's instructions
  • Scoring
  • Comprehensive report on the candidates' comparative strengths and weaknesses
